When analyzing compatibility of two individuals, we will rarely stick only to their Sun sign compatibility. To define real potential and challenges of a certain relationship, we need to have two natal charts combined through synastry and other methods, that will help us realize where weaknesses and strengths of the relationship lie. Relationship astrology can help us find a better understanding for a person standing in front of us and has great value in our personal evolution.

The main texts upon which classical Indian astrology is based are early medieval compilations, notably the Bṛhat Parāśara Horāśāstra, and Sārāvalī by Kalyāṇavarma. The Horāshastra is a composite work of 71 chapters, of which the first part (chapters 1–51) dates to the 7th to early 8th centuries and the second part (chapters 52–71) to the later 8th century. The Sārāvalī likewise dates to around 800 CE.[49] English translations of these texts were published by N.N. Krishna Rau and V.B. Choudhari in 1963 and 1961, respectively.
To start off, the first thing we need to learn when it comes to relationship astrology and compatibility of the zodiac signs, is that there are no incompatible signs. There are those with more or less easy flow of energy, those that have troubles that need to be overcome and those that have an easy way out, but they are all good in their own way. Lack of compatibility won’t necessarily mean that two people aren’t capable to get along just fine, it will just point to their challenges and possible conflicts that need to be overcome. Those that are highly compatible will have less trouble finding one, shared language and understanding each other.

The constellations of the Zodiac of western Asia and Europe were not used; instead the sky is divided into Three Enclosures (三垣 sān yuán), and Twenty-Eight Mansions (二十八宿 èrshíbā xiù) in twelve Ci (十二次).[101] The Chinese zodiac of twelve animal signs is said to represent twelve different types of personality. It is based on cycles of years, lunar months, and two-hour periods of the day (the shichen). The zodiac traditionally begins with the sign of the Rat, and the cycle proceeds through 11 other animals signs: the Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Dragon, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog, and Pig.[102] Complex systems of predicting fate and destiny based on one's birthday, birth season, and birth hours, such as ziping and Zi Wei Dou Shu (simplified Chinese: 紫微斗数; traditional Chinese: 紫微斗數; pinyin: zǐwēidǒushù) are still used regularly in modern-day Chinese astrology. They do not rely on direct observations of the stars.[103]

To optimise the chances of finding even remote relationships between date of birth and individual differences in personality and intelligence we further applied two different strategies. The first one was based on the common chronological concept of time (e.g. month of birth and season of birth). The second strategy was based on the (pseudo-scientific) concept of astrology (e.g. Sun Signs, The Elements, and astrological gender), as discussed in the book Astrology: Science or superstition? by Eysenck and Nias (1982).

Astrology saw a popular revival starting in the 19th century, as part of a general revival of spiritualism and—later, New Age philosophy,[81]:239–249 and through the influence of mass media such as newspaper horoscopes.[81]:259–263 Early in the 20th century the psychiatrist Carl Jung developed some concepts concerning astrology,[82] which led to the development of psychological astrology.[81]:251–256;[83][84]

Water is the element that is a little easier to grasp even though it still holds so much mystery to it. Its movements are more predictable and slow than those of Air and Fire, but its depths are unknown and hard to reach for all of humanity. Water can be dark and silent, but it is also refreshing and cold, filled with emotion and genetic inheritance in its core. People born with the Sun in this element are sensitive and compassionate, capable to understand motives and needs of those around them. When hurt, they tend to close their hearts and can be too dramatic in reflecting on actions of those they see as aggressors. Caring, helpful and empathetic, these individuals are capable of real intimacy and devotion, followed by profound emotions. Be careful around your watery types for they are what helps you grow and supports you on your path for as long as they are nurtured and cherished in return

In 1953, the sociologist Theodor W. Adorno conducted a study of the astrology column of a Los Angeles newspaper as part of a project examining mass culture in capitalist society.[144]:326 Adorno believed that popular astrology, as a device, invariably leads to statements that encouraged conformity—and that astrologers who go against conformity, by discouraging performance at work etc., risk losing their jobs.[144]:327 Adorno concluded that astrology is a large-scale manifestation of systematic irrationalism, where individuals are subtly led—through flattery and vague generalisations—to believe that the author of the column is addressing them directly.[145] Adorno drew a parallel with the phrase opium of the people, by Karl Marx, by commenting, "occultism is the metaphysic of the dopes."[144]:329
By the 4th century BC, Babylonian astronomy and its system of celestial omens had an influence on the culture of ancient Greece, as did the astrology of ancient Egypt by late 2nd century BC. This resulted, unlike the Mesopotamian tradition, in a strong focus on the birth chart of the individual and in the creation of Horoscopic astrology, employing the use of the Ascendant (the rising degree of the ecliptic, at the time of birth), and of the twelve houses. Association of the astrological signs with Empedocles' four classical elements was another important development in the characterization of the twelve signs.
As a cardinal representative of the element of Water, the sign of Cancer is compassionate and caring on first impulse. Without overthinking, those born with the Sun in Cancer will be supportive and caring, with an open mind and heart for all human differences. Once they get hurt, these people close their hearts and become overprotective of those they still love, or their country and their home. Unaware of the lack of danger that lurks around the corner, they can get too attached to their home and even become afraid of leaving it or letting go of their memories.

Dean, a scientist and former astrologer, and psychologist Ivan Kelly conducted a large scale scientific test that involved more than one hundred cognitive, behavioural, physical, and other variables—but found no support for astrology.[134][135] Furthermore, a meta-analysis pooled 40 studies that involved 700 astrologers and over 1,000 birth charts. Ten of the tests—which involved 300 participants—had the astrologers pick the correct chart interpretation out of a number of others that were not the astrologically correct chart interpretation (usually three to five others). When date and other obvious clues were removed, no significant results suggested there was any preferred chart.[135]:190

In 1955, the astrologer and psychologist Michel Gauquelin stated that though he had failed to find evidence that supported indicators like zodiacal signs and planetary aspects in astrology, he did find positive correlations between the diurnal positions of some planets and success in professions that astrology traditionally associates with those planets.[130][131] The best-known of Gauquelin's findings is based on the positions of Mars in the natal charts of successful athletes and became known as the Mars effect.[132]:213 A study conducted by seven French scientists attempted to replicate the claim, but found no statistical evidence.[132]:213–214 They attributed the effect to selective bias on Gauquelin's part, accusing him of attempting to persuade them to add or delete names from their study.[133]
Just like a middle child among the Fire signs, Leo craves to be the center of attention to everyone around. Belonging to the sign of fixed quality, they represent the personality that is proud and constant, with little room for change. This can make Leo representatives a tad difficult, for they have deep seeded, passionate respect for who they are and are often unaware of the requests of society and other people. Ruled by the Sun, Leo is passion and creativity in its most stable unchangeable form, giving balance to the Universe as we know it.
Earth is concrete, visible, touchable and we can even smell it. It employs all of our senses and is composed, fixed and solid. Not prone to change for centuries or under influence of one of the other elements, this is the element of specific, unchangeable things that can be used in our material reality. All signs that belong to it are practical and turned to the material essence of existence. No Earth sign representative will settle for empty words or promises, expecting things to be touchable and real if they are to commit to them. Down to Earth just like their element would suggest, these individuals are good to be around when you need something done. They can be conservative if they lose sight of progress or get scared of time passing by. Loyal friends of substance that will never let you down, these are the exact people you need to put any plan into action and feel secure about the outcome.
Pisces, a water sign, is the last constellation of the zodiac. It's symbolized by two fish swimming in opposite directions, representing the constant division of Pisces's attention between fantasy and reality. As the final sign, Pisces has absorbed every lesson — the joys and the pain, the hopes and the fears — learned by all of the other signs. Read your sign's full profile here. The fourteenth-century English poets John Gower and Geoffrey Chaucer both referred to astrology in their works, including Gower's Confessio Amantis and Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales.[159] Chaucer commented explicitly on astrology in his Treatise on the Astrolabe, demonstrating personal knowledge of one area, judicial astrology, with an account of how to find the ascendant or rising sign.[160]
The twelve sector division of the ecliptic constitutes astrology's primary frame of reference when considering the positions of celestial bodies, from a geocentric point of view, so that we may find, for instance, the Sun in 23° Aries (23° longitude), the Moon in 7° Scorpio (217° longitude), or Jupiter in 29° Pisces (359° longitude). Beyond the celestial bodies, other astrological points that are dependent on geographical location and time (namely, the Ascendant, the Midheaven, the Vertex and the houses' cusps) are also referenced within this ecliptic coordinate system.[citation needed]

The sign of Libra is an Air sign with a Cardinal quality, making people born with the Sun in it potentially innovative and incredibly open for new things. Libras bring balance and harmony into our lives, much faster than their indecisiveness will let you believe. Their main problem is the fall of the Sun in their sign as they need to come to terms with their role of announcers of autumn, the season when all things are dying down. If they accept their personality in all its glory, they become joyful but calm, those few able to mend any relationship or conflict.
Throughout most of its history, astrology was considered a scholarly tradition and was common in academic circles, often in close relation with astronomy, alchemy, meteorology, and medicine.[7] It was present in political circles and is mentioned in various works of literature, from Dante Alighieri and Geoffrey Chaucer to William Shakespeare, Lope de Vega, and Calderón de la Barca. Following the end of the 19th century and the wide-scale adoption of the scientific method, astrology has been challenged successfully on both theoretical[8]:249;[9] and experimental grounds,[10][11] and has been shown to have no scientific validity or explanatory power.[6] Astrology thus lost its academic and theoretical standing, and common belief in it has largely declined.[12] While polls have demonstrated that approximately one quarter of American, British, and Canadian people say they continue to believe that star and planet positions affect their lives,[13] astrology is now recognized as a pseudoscience—a belief that is incorrectly presented as scientific.[4][14][15][16][17]
